Learning basic ball skills helps students with disabilities to socialize with their same-aged peers by being able to engage appropriately with them. This is especially important for this population who has a more difficult time feeling accepted and understood with their same-aged peers. Gross motor development is extremely important to help facilitate social-emotional wellbeing in many ways because it is typically something that is engaged in a group setting. It will facilitate physical education literacy by learning the proper way to use ball skills independently, with a partner, and group.
