Since Covid-19, students in my math class have not all made the expected growth in mathematics, due to online learning, the anxiety of wearing masks all day in the classroom, and the stress over worrying about family members and the constant changes due to the pandemic. These math materials will help to differentiate the learning for each student and provide concrete modeling of abstract concepts in math. Using hands on math materials can help student learn more easily. The sixth grade core standards are the beginning of secondary mathematics and are abstract concepts. For example, using the algebra tiles, it will allow students to manipulate what is happening in the equations to help them have a deeper understanding. This will increase academic growth.
