These books will be used to increase student engagement by them receiving more choice in the classroom with the classroom novels. These books were specifically chosen with multicultural ideas in mind to expand the limited experiences of these kids and see the world from a new light. So many of my students don't have access to books at home. I would love to provide them with book choices to become a lover of reading, and then with the books themselves so they can read in school and at home.
Research shows that reading only 20 minutes a day puts you ahead of 90% of other students. I want to give my students (especially those that struggle and don't have much) to achieve high levels of learning even though they don't have the resources at home.
Because of the pandemic, reading levels are at an all-time low. The students need to practice and they need a way that they can have access to reading materials even when they have to quarantine or have to work on schoolwork at home. This will provide them with the opportunity.
