What's the best part of taking a science class? To my chemistry students, the answer is easy - the LABS! In this lesson, students will make a gummy bear "dance" by combining it with a chemical and a little heat. This is a memorable lab for all students, especially when they've survived distance learning with minimal hands-on labs. This spectacular show is an amazing introduction into a learning unit about chemical reaction rates and equilibrium. By observing this brilliant display, we will be able to discuss they reason it's so dramatic and relate it to the chemical reaction process.
