I believe Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India states the importance of my need the best, "In this digital age, we have an opportunity to transform the lives of people in ways that were hard to imagine a couple of decades ago.” I believe that giving students access to a 3D printer will truly transform the lives of my students. The Flashforge 3D printer will help reduce the learning gap of my students by giving them tangible math shapes, scientific models, and unique rewards for academic achievement. By creating 3D math models, my students can physically touch and understand shapes. This would allow them to quickly understand how to find measurements. I would create the basic building blocks of life such as DNA and atoms which would allow the students to see how they connect directly. Many students have felt disconnected and anxious about returning to a full class schedule and fun incentives such as 3D printed nachos and toys can, when properly executed, motivate a student to perform their best academically. 3D printing in my school can help transform my students from being passive consumers to active creators. In addition, having access to 3D printing technology at the classroom level allows more students to adopt a practical hands-on approach. After consulting with multiple teachers in my school, we believe that while a 3D printer would not be the "golden solution" for making up what students have lost during COVID but would easily help strengthen the transition to more rigorous academics. THANK YOU so much for your consideration.
