The past 2 years have been tough for adults, but more so for my students. Students have bore the brunt of the Covid shut downs, quarantines, and online schooling. Some of them have shut down emotionally and school has not always been a priority in their households. They have come to our classroom with some serious deficits in their academics and they do not socially know how to be around others. My project will help students learn how to socially interact with others in a safe way. Students will use the puppets for academics to read plays and as reading buddies. They will also be able to use them for some dramatic play time. We will continue to learn how to interact with one another in a safe and caring way. The puppets will also help my growing population of ESL students, who struggle with being able to communicate.
