In the words of Camilla Brown," Why do we dance? To move, to let loose, to express. Why do we dance together? To heal, to remember, and to say, we speak a common language." For the past two years the Covid-19 pandemic has changed so much for so many of us. My students have been living in an environment of separation, fear, and interruptions. Never knowing what to expect each day. Things that were routine and comfortable are now in constant flux. This has effected them emotionally, physically, and intellectually. This project will give my students a place to feel physically and emotionally safe, reconnect with each other, and learn and move together. The dance room at our school has become a place of emotional recovery throughout the pandemic. A place students can express the anxiety and emotions they are going through. The constant traffic has made the floor unsafe and hard to keep clean and disinfected. The students need a safer floor surface to stand, sit and lay on. The funds from this project will recover the floor with a safer surface that can be kept cleaner, and will prevent injuries. This will benefit the physical and emotional needs of the students.
