The items I have chosen for this project will help students make connections of skills or concepts that may be abstract and bring them to life with various materials while building independence in reading and a scientific mindset. My students will benefit from engaging in various STEM activities that build problem solving and creativity skills with Picasso tiles, puzzles, and brain flakes. Learning the concept of addition or subtraction is much easier for children to grasp when they can FEEL and see the math happening using the giant magnetic ten frame on the board or carpet dots on the floor. I hope my students will also become more independent and proficient in reading after using the sight word builder. Learning about space and our solar system becomes much more clear when the planets can be inside our classroom in a proportionate scale. With each of these items, I hope to create an environment where my students continue to get excited and intrigued with content before it's even been presented in a formal lesson.
