In any year the students in my class are at very different levels, but with the disruptions due to COVID-19 this has been greatly exacerbated. While some students need extra time and dedication to catch up on lost learning, others are ready to go further and need a challenge to show their creativity and initiative. These hands on coding activities will give students at all levels the chance to problem solve and think creatively in an engaging way. These robots will allow students to immediately see and experience the results of their efforts and motivate them to try again and fix what failed the first time. As we've spent time with online learning and shorter school days, one of the biggest areas we've lost with these students is problem solving and creative thinking. And the motivation of using the roots is all the more pressing for these students who have lost learning time during COVID.
