Esports programs have had amazing results in schools across the country. 71% parents report net positive effects from gaming. Students in Esports programs have a +1.4 gpa and a 10% better attendance rate. 80% of students in Esports have never participated in any other extra curricular activity. I think this really shows how many students don't participate in extra curricular activities and that Esports is filling a void that schools have failed to fill up to this point. This also can benefit the future for students with many college options and job opportunities. More than 125 colleges have an Esports program and currently more than $15 million dollars in scholarships are given each year. At around a billion dollar industry the jobs opportunities (gamer, host, manager, coach, referee, marketing, ect.) cannot be ignored. This could prepare my students for the future more than I can even imagine.
