Over the past three years of COVID, student views around computer learning have changed quite a bit. Computers used to be an enjoyable get away from other required student tasks. However, with the increased need for online learning, students now spend large amounts of learning time in front of computers, and it has taken some of the joy and magical of technology out of the learning process. My hope with this Donors Choose project is to put some of the fun back in computer class. I want to help students not only prepare for the current the technology landscape, but also get them excited by showing them what’s coming down the road. To help achieve this, I am requesting 12 graphics tablets, a drawing pen display and a 3D printer. With the drawing and graphics tablets, we will be able to expand how we teach, interact, and create art in the classroom and have a differing relationship with computers. We will also be able to facilitate different learning styles by giving kids a chance to try different ways to create. With the 3D printer, we will be able to bring kids creative ideas to life. 3D Design is an expanding field and being able to design and print can help them explore and prepare for the future.
