This year we were able to start the year with an indoor recess that was not distanced as long as students sanitized often and wore masks properly. Unfortunately, due to the Omicron surge, we must maintain 3 feet of distance at all times and students must remain in their seats for the duration of their indoor recess. The activities that they were enjoying had to be packed away until COVID cases are back under control. That has left us with two options for indoor recess: a movie on the projector or additional Chromebook time. I need engaging indoor recess activities for my students to use at a safe distance from each other. I would like to make individual bags of indoor recess activities when the weather does not permit us to go outside. The cinch top bags will be used to store a set of LEGO, tangrams, two cans of PlayDoh, an activity book, and colored pencils for each child. I hope that recess can continue to be a time for my students to build peer relationships, but in a socially distanced, safe way.
