These materials will enable my students to increase comprehension by motivating them to read closely to figure out the meaning of some of these items. For example, after reading chapters one and two they will receive the bike. Each student will explain the importance of the bike in the story. As they read they will receive different items for their box by explaining the meaning behind the item. The police car, magnifying glass, coral, and flash light are important parts of the overall story. Last, using all of the items they will recreate scenes from the book and write explanations for their choices. Students will be excited to read chapter after chapter!
