Many of my students don't have a bookshelf at home where they can keep their books; having one in our classroom we'll compensate for that longing. We need a shelf where we can organize the books we have in the class. Students can sit on the shelf and enjoy a small moment of quiet while reading their favorite book. This bookshelf will become a part of students' memories of being in third grade, and having a moment during the school week where they have the privilege of reading a book of their choice and sitting in a different place than their usual classroom chair.
