The basic items I'm requesting are used by my 60 mighty mathematicians everyday to create meaningful math models and representations. Students use dry erase markers to solve work on whiteboards and discuss their math strategies and thinking with their table partners. The glue sticks, scissors, and composition books are used to create math journals to help them commit their math learning to memory and to use as a reference tool when needed. My students are most successful when they can practice mathematical concepts in variety of ways using a variety materials. Every student is different and thinks about math problems differently. I love engaging my students in multiple activities so that every child learns in their own unique way and feels they can be successful and enjoy math.
