About my class

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my class will help ensure a more equitable classroom. I teach second grade and over half of my class are English language learners so it is important that we visual aids to make sure that all of the young scholars in our class have the resources they need to succeed. We are also an arts integrated classroom, so we are always trying to make sure our lessons include art to help internalize the knew knowledge we are learning! For instance for our most recent ELA lesson our class wrote a song about the main character of a book we were reading (the instruments would have come in handy then... oh well next time). For our most recent science lesson the students designed and drew out an animal in their habitat (I have some amazing artists in my class!) For social studies we will be creating a neighborhood that will span a wall of our classroom (those markers, scissors, and color pencils will make that possible!) The math charts will help the students visualize the numbers better and help create some wonderful stations to help grow these phenomenal students! These supplies will mean so much to the students, it will empower them to have dedicated art supplies to make their visions a reality! For me this means a smoother running classroom, that promotes equitable and cooperative learning that will help grow the natural curiosity that each and every students has.
