My students are all self contained students without a self contained program and let alone a self contained classroom. Since we have had these wonderful and bright kids brought to our school, I have been doing my best to make their experience and learning here something they enjoy everyday. We have finally made it to the point where we have the self contained classroom and need all the classroom essentials. From supplies to sensory toys and etc. We now have the proper space to learn life skills, math, reading, practice handwriting, money, and many other lessons they have needed the space to be themselves and learn in their own area. All we need are things to make out classroom feel like just that, a classroom. With things such as the sofa bed, rug, and bean bag chair, we want to convert a little corner of our class into their very own peace/play area filled with sensory toys such as the fidget toys in my wish list. That way they are able to have a comfortable area in which they can have some peace, relax, reflect, and be themselves. One of the things we do emphasize a lot in our class is life skills so with the hand sanitizer and toothbrushes we are learning about good hygiene. Also in life skills we learn about money and what better way to learn such a thing than with the board game and fake money! Finally my students, all of my students, are the biggest superhero fans you could meet. I also spoke with their families and asked how they have their own rooms set up at home and wanted to make our classroom as comfortable for them as possible and also as per my class’ request, AVENGERS and superhero posters will complete it perfectly.
