Chair pockets are an important to help students learn organization skills. We use tables for seating and use a variety of materials in the classroom. The chair pockets will help keep all of the students materials in quick reach for when they need to access them. Having the materials close also reduces the need for students to walk around the classroom (covid protocols) and promotes quicker transition times from each activity. The headphones are needed to help ensure students are able to focus on tasks involving technology. We know many student have had to utilize technology to complete education tasks during virtual learning, and some of that has continued in the classroom. Having 27 students in one classroom, computer work can get loud and distracting for many of the students. We use technology for assessments, benchmarks, supplemental learning programs (extra practice on skills students need to improve on), and being about to listen to reading on iPads and computers. Listening to reading helps students track, improve reading fluency, as well as building reading comprehension. If students are given the ability to focus on their own work, I am confident they will begin to gain a better grasp of skills being taught.
