Our students are beginning a San Diego ecology project where they will be studying native and invasive species in San Diego. They will be creating an interactive trail map of their ecosystem explaining the species adaptations in relation to drought, fires, climate change, and human impact. Students will be using professional microscopy in the field to examine cellular structures of native and invasive species in their communities. This will enable students to understand and tell their species stories from a scale of cell level to ecosystem level to help show others how all organisms are interconnected.
