We would like to create a place for students that is mindful of their individual needs. A space that is calming and meditative. A place where students are able to self-sooth, regulate their emotions, and take a brain breaks so they can emotionally stabilize and return to class so the are ready to focus on their academics and learn. Items in our list, such as fidgets help students to regulate, a water fountain will create the calm, soothing sound; comfy chairs are for them to relax their weary bodies. An iPad we will download calming visuals for students to watch, mediation music to listen to, coloring pages for them to draw or doodle. This helps them to self-sooth and get back to class. We added fake plants to give our office some 'life' and break up the small space. Florescent covers help those students who have sensory issues. The sand motion, and jellyfish lamp give students something to look at and mediate. We have found that each student is different in their needs to sooth, and we would like to offer them various tools to help. Our students need a safe place to go in the building.
