My plan is to read and discuss these stories with my reading groups. I want my students to be able to read them independently. I want them to not only be able to read them, but understand them. We will discuss the stories using different comprehension strategies. After reading a story, I will then allow students to take the books home to read it to a family member. Reading a story several times will help build reading fluency. By sending books home to read with a family member, this will allow for parents to see the progress their child is making!
