From the beginning of the year there was a difficulty in teaching my Spanish students in English. They have come so far with the resources we have been able to utilize. As far as supporting them further, I know they would greatly benefit from a listening center during small group reading rotations. A listening center with books they can listen to and make connections with, will help to build in their reading skills tremendously. As English learners, a listening center would be so beneficial because it will provide a model for fluent reading, Help decode unfamiliar words, teaches critical listening skills, introduces new vocabulary and provides a read-aloud model to support their practice in English language learning. In addition to these benefits, a listening center can be easily operated and well maintained independently by the students. Having a listening center added into our reading rotations will really help my students reach their potential goals in becoming strong English language readers. Please help us to continue become better learners each and every day.
