Our library shelves are currently full of books from the 60's, 70's, 80's and earlier. When it comes to science and technology, especially, that is far too old to be accurate and useful. Students need and deserve access to books that speak to them - not the very same books that their grandparents read when they were in high school. The books purchased for this project will help to update the math, science and technology sections of the library. There is currently no money in the school budget for buying books, so research or pleasure reading on these topics requires students to use online sources or request books from other libraries. But that means they won't experience the joy of finding the perfect book on the shelf at the perfect time. The books being purchased have all been chosen because of their excellent reviews and/or inclusion on lists such as: Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students from NSTA (National Science Teaching Association) SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books from AAAS/Subaru (American Association for the Advancement of Science) Mathical Book Prize Please help feed all my students' curiosity and love of learning by providing math, science and technology books published in the 21st century.
