A great way to explore both who they are and the world around them is through reading about other people, places, and experiences. Students have traditionally been asked to read at home, but with busy home lives, technology, and reluctant readers it doesn't always happen. So this year I am having students read during the school day so I can support them and keep them reading! We have a classroom library, but it needs updating. Student choice is at the center of this program, and it is exciting to see them so engaged as young readers. The books I am asking for are based on student feedback, requests, and the goal of building a diverse bookshelf of opportunity!
