My students are like little sponges in the classroom; they love learning. They are sweet, funny, curious, and kind. They are always excited to read something new and be read to. Some of them happen to live in a high-poverty neighborhood, attend a Title I elementary school, and qualify for free lunch. Given the socioeconomic status of some of my students, they are only exposed to reading materials when they are at school. Many of their parents work long hours and are focused more on basic survival than on cultural enrichment. As my students' primary classroom teacher, I feel responsible and committed to offer them the best and most well-rounded education I can offer.
