My athletes are working to increase strength by weight training to help with skill development for basketball. Female athletes are typically not strong in the upper body which leads to bad passes and poor ball handling. Teaching them the importance of strength training and healthy lifestyles will help them in all areas of life. Female athletes who have a healthy weight training program will have a better idea of a healthy lifestyle. This will increase athlete confidence and self-image in turn helping mental health. Helping a female athlete make connections between health, strength, skills, self-confidence, and a healthy mental mind frame produces an overall confident, healthy female athlete who can succeed at what she puts her mind to.
