The use of hydroponic gardens will give students a new appreciation for working collaboratively and seeing their efforts as they harvest their yield. Through hydroponic gardening, students will be able to cultivate plants regardless of the season and harvest fresh fruit and vegetables all year round. The use of hydroponic gardens will give students a new appreciation for working collaboratively and seeing their efforts as they harvest their yield. Students will learn how a large proportion of the water used in soil-based gardening is lost into the ground and not absorbed by the plants and how most hydroponics systems recirculate any water and minerals used so that the only losses are from evaporation. Hydroponics is a fantastic option for teaching students about sustainable resources and how they can be used in countries where water scarcity is an issue. Science, 6th Grade, MS-ESS2-4
