Students take Spanish class once weekly for a 45-minute lesson. These lessons must be impactful and memorable in order for students to retain the language from week to week. Pre-K students are fast learners, and they respond well to the research-based techniques of comprehensible input and story asking. These techniques involve the teacher using as much Spanish as possible to immerse students in the language while using props, visuals, and motions to help the students comprehend what is happening in the story. The items in this project will be a useful resource for Ms. Castillo, as students will be able to watch Ms. Castillo act out the Spanish content with the props. The manipulative items, such as the puzzles and activities will help students learn through different modalities and develop their motor skills. Students of this young age have the unique potential to become multilingual for life, so please help Ms. Castillo teach as effectively as possible.
