The materials that I am requesting are ceramic tools. The students will manipulate the clay as dough that they use regularly at home for baking. The manipulation of the air-dry clay will inspire the students to learn, create, and build different shapes. They will also be able to new textures with the tools. For example, the Mayco Designer can help students create circles. The floral flourish and the rolling wooden tools will add texture of nature and other designs. The sponges and the ribs will clean, smooth, and finish the forming of the clay. The Melissa & Doug cutter set will help me introduce how to make shapes for my students who are in PK-3 and PK 4. The use of modeling tools will help to model, carve, and scrap the clay. The nylon clay cutter will help to cut the big chunk of clay in small sizes safely. They will use techniques such as carving, modeling, cutting, scraping, and smoothing on the clay by using the tools as well. The Air-Dry clay doesn't need to be baked, which is very useful because the school doesn't have a kiln. Lastly, the use of acrylic paint on the clay will help the students to use different colors bringing their new creation to life.
