These materials will help students explore how science is developing technology to solve future challenges. Students will directly compare the efficiency of growing food using these new technologies compared to traditional methods. By calculating the growth rates, students can determine the role of technology in decreasing environmental stresses caused by human activity. Too often students learn about technology without actually being able to engage with it. By giving students the opportunity to use technology first hand, they get a personal experience that extends their learning and get an appreciation for where their food comes from!
