First Grade is a big year for reading! Students go from emergent readers to beginning chapter books. And they need to practice, practice, PRACTICE! Unfortunately, many students don’t have access to “good fit” books in their own homes. The requested supplies will enable all First Graders at my school to borrow “good fit” books at their reading level for their nightly practice. These books will be more engaging than black and white practice pages. Take home books will inspire struggling readers to practice at home. These books will also allow their families to participate in their children’s learning. The goal is to build a generation of kids that love to read!
