This project will help me cultivate an incredible reading nook for my students! The items in this project will help students feel welcome in our room and excited to come to class and get reading. The flexible seating cushions and chairs will help students get comfy in our reading nook and will motivate them to explore our many books and adventures! They will also be used as incentives for students to motivate their growth and positive participation in our classroom. We will use the seating for group work time, individual reading, and whole class learning! Creating a welcoming reading and class environment will greatly benefit my students emotional well-being during this trying time as well as help to engage them further in their learning. My students have experienced school in a turbulent time filled with unknowns, and providing them with their own seat pockets where they can safely store all of their learning materials will provide them ownership, security, and additional structure in the classroom. The seat pockets and pencil cases will help students take responsibility for their learning materials, as well as help to minimize chaotic transitions while maximizing learning time! This projects materials will cultivate their organizational skills and sense of responsibility in our learning community.
