These items will be used to transform a regular classroom into a room that can meet the diverse sensory needs of the students in our high school program. The lights will reduce the need for overhead fluorescents that overstimulate, the alternative seating will provide options that better meet their body's individual needs, the sensory tools will provide outlets for sensory seeking behavior, and the sensory input they need on a daily basis. This room will also provide a place that is calm and inviting that overwhelmed students can come to in order to destress, relax and regain equilibrium.
