In sixth grade, students explore the similarities and differences between the organelles of plant and animal cells. While using an actual microscope is great, it is often overwhelming for students to find what they are looking for without some background knowledge and support. These hands-on animal and plant cell models will allow multiple groups of students to compare and contrast the two types of cells prior to exploring what they may look like under a microscope. The donations for this project will also bridge the students' knowledge between science and writing! Students will not only explore the topic for science knowledge but will also be expected to formulate a comparison essay between the two types of cells.

About my class
