This project will allow students to use different tools to model how to balance chemical equations. By using the colored cubes, they will be able to understand the law of conservation of mass and visualize the number of atoms on each side of the equation. They will make sense of the idea and discover the answer to the question, “How do you write a chemical equation so that the number and type of atoms on the reactant and product sides are balanced?” This project will allow for differentiation in the classroom and give students the opportunity to problem solve as well as explore chemical equations.
