Technology is great… when it works. Computers and the internet are complicated and when they aren’t working the classrooms become unnecessarily complicated and learning suffers. Real world success means doing the basics and doing them well. Student learning is all about learning and mastering the basics. Microsoft’s own research demonstrates that long-term learning is most effectively accomplished through writing—note their Surface sales literature. • Having access to a classroom printer-copier will provide me the opportunity to provide the students with skills practice that is more effective using paper and pencil and is otherwise unavailable when computers and the internet aren’t cooperating. • Teachers Pay Teachers has a number of creative map and vocabulary practice activities bundles that would help the students learn and retain much of the content necessary to United States History.
