Our students need items to help them grow and learn how to be class ready in order to be successful. Our students need reinforcements to be able to stay on task and learn. We need multiple brain breaks in order to keep behaviors to a minimum. Some of the requested items will help them relax in-between lessons and help them be ready for the world of work. Other items will be used to reward them for completing the skills that need to be retaught. Many of our students are used to only doing a few minutes of work an hour instead of being in school for six hours.
The TV will allow us to use our Nintendo games for brain breaks and view current events on the new stations on the television.
The games will allow the students to improve their social skills. The alternative seating will help to calm students during an outburst. The multiple sensory items will help the students be calm during lessons or will be used as rewards for staying on task.
The lessons I am planning will develop self-management competencies to include: 1) regulate emotions; 2) manage stress; 3) monitor and achieve behaviors related to school and life success; and 4) problem solve effectively.
