There is a the lack of mobility in the classroom to allow for proper distancing between students. My 1st Grade classroom currently has 24 energetic, ambitious, wonderful students! Despite having to remove unnecessary furniture, I still want to give my students the option to move around the room to work and have more choices than the floor or their table spot. I also want to provide opportunities for my students that need to be able to fidget while they are at their spot to do so with minimal distraction to their peers. My classroom is filled with students who are making history; they are 1st graders who are going through their school career during a pandemic. With the potential of going to remote learning always in the back of my mind, I am always thinking of ways to capitalize on every minute the students are physically in my classroom. Research has proven many times over that an engage body helps engage the brain. My students are always on the move! I am hoping to provide my students with seating options that will help them be mobile and provide them with choice while they are learning!
