Some of the materials will be used as incentives for reaching milestones in fact fluency. Students are given goals to reach in the Reflex program. It is based on 10 point increments in fact fluency. As they reach their milestones, they are visited by the school math wizard and receive an incentive, certificate, and get their picture taken for the school-wide bulletin board. The magnetic ten frames will be used in 2nd grade to build number sense for students. They will reinforce counting to ten, 1-to-1 correspondence, base 10, place value, number patterns, addition, subtraction, counting in twos, counting in fives. They offer great hands-on learning. The polyhedral dice will be used for numerous games played in math during differentiated lessons.
