Students will first learn how to draw a portrait in class, using the grid method of drawing. Then, when we receive the portraits from the Memory Project, students will utilize what they’ve learned to create a portrait painting of their child. My students have an abundance of portraits of themselves on their phones. The materials I requested will aid students in creating their Memory Project portraits. I want to teach them to give back to the community at a global level by painting children who are less fortunate. Some children we’ve painted in the past live in countries of hardship, but the Memory Project helps bring joy to these children when they receive their completed portraits.
