My students frequently struggle with reading non-fiction text. This book is not only approachable, but highly engaging. It's the story of the 2020 Nobel Prize for Science-all of the drama and science behind this award. This text is guaranteed to allow students to identify with one of the scientists behind this discovery. Since most students will be first generation college students, they don't have access to stories about scientists with which they can identify. Bioethical debate and decision making for the future will be partnered with this reading. Genetic engineering is a reality these children will have to grapple with. Help me prepare them for this eventuality and begin thinking about their futures.
