This year at FEES, the arts department has had the amazing opportunity of doubling in size as a second art class was started for students. I have the great joy of teaching this class, but it has also been a struggle as we have barely any supplies to begin. There are not enough tape dispensers for even one per table, so the art supplies of paper and aprons are basics in any art classroom, but unfortunately lacking in ours. With these amounts of colored paper, each student will have the chance to create a personalized art portfolio to store their artworks in. These portfolios will allow students who think they cannot create art to slowly see over the course of the semester a collection of their own masterpieces grow. Along with this, each student will also be able to paint their folders in a way that uniquely expresses who they are because of a donation of aprons. We have not been able to paint with acrylics yet this year because it would ruin the students' clothes without an apron, but many students have been hoping for it. These seemingly simple art basics would allow for endless opportunities for creating and expressing in this art classroom, and these students deserve that chance!
