These books are great for my forth grade readers with reading disabilities. These students are part of a regular education classroom and need materials that are more appropriate for them. Every night a reading log is part of their homework but the books they have to choose from are challenging for the students without reading disabilities. Thus, my struggling readers lose confidence and stop participating. My students want to be successful, but the library given to us by the school is way too advanced for my students. The library books are so difficult that it stops them from wanting to practice reading independently. One of the challenges of teaching forth graders with reading disabilities is making sure they feel confident and motivated to keep trying.
