The KidKraft Large Play Kitchen is the tallest one on the market and perfect for 5 and 6 year olds. I currently have a basket of food and some plates that kids can play with. They will lay all the food out on the rug. Serve each other meals. They have pretended to make a restaurant and take orders. Dramatic play has been missing in my young kids' lives, especially during the pandemic. "Play gives children exactly what they need now, which will help them develop into the kind of people that can handle what comes next," (From the book Purposeful Play by Mraz, Porcelli and Tyler, pg 14). I already have a spot for the play kitchen in the classroom. Students will learn to negotiate, compromise, engage in discussion, collaborate, and think flexibly. Play is the work of children.
