Currently, in the library, we just have tables and books. As part of the library program, kids love to use their hands. Makerspace is a fairly new concept in the library media world, but it is a collaborative workspace where people can use their hands and create and share ideas. Kids love to create! They want to build, tinker and play. They are learning without realizing they are learning, which is the best way. By providing the library with a Makerspace, kids will understand that the library is not just a place for books. It is a media center: a place for books, technology, and creating. In order to create, kids need to be able to explore and experiment. By providing the library with Legos and other Makerspace materials, the kids will be able to extend their learning beyond technology.
