Rulers are a great tool for teaching fractions and decimals. The concept of whole numbers and pieces is easy to see on a ruler. I make a point to do all of our science measuring in the metric system. It is often difficult to provide the two rulers to all of the students. Plastic ones break; wooden ones become splintered. These rulers will be durable enough to survive a fifth grader's desk, as well as easy to label with names for easy identification. Any job is easier with the right tools! I hope to provide my students with just that as we measure.
