Students at my school have faced many challenges during the pandemic and continue to face obstacles back in the school setting. Not only has there been huge learning loss with overall academics, but the social emotional impact and trauma has been crushing on many of the students. My focus is to make a supportive, calm, and embracing environment in which students can get the much needed help they need with the social/emotional aspect the pandemic has caused. I see a need for positive behavioral support and interventions like never before. I want to create individualized interventions and forms for students as well as reward them for their growth. Students are not able to be fully engaged in academic content learning until they feel safe and emotionally supported. My goal is to make the biggest impact I can in this aspect to help students and families heal and to support our school community in all the ways I can.
