We are studying life cycles in our third grade class. These incubators will give students the opportunity to observe an animal life cycle happen in their classrooms. They will have hands-on experience and exposure from an opportunity that most kids never get. This will give them a daily visual of the life cycle process from egg to chicken. Students will use math, science and writing skills as the eggs go through the incubation process. While they continue to learn about the life cycle of the chicken, students will be responsible for caring for the chicks through the brooding process. A light will also show in detail the insides of the egg to further their knowledge of the life cycle. This project will give my students experiences that will help them learn and explore the world around them. Also, by purchasing ant farms, we are wanting to give our students the opportunity to learn about what goes on below the ground level. This will allow the students to see how the ants communicate and work together in their colony. This will also allow them to learn by being able to view the ants move and build to accomplish their goals. The students will work on their writing, communication and critical thinking skills all while learning about the ant farm.
