The materials for my project will all be used to make my classroom a more functional space without desks. I want to create a better space for students to use all their supplies in a creative way that allows for teaming and community. The alternative seating will help a lot of my students that struggle to sit still in their seats and give them the option to stand, wobble or sit. I will also be adding tables of varying heights and sizes so that students have even more options.
I think this change will help my students engage more in their work.
I'm looking forward to creating a more inclusive environment and building my classroom into what I have been imagining for it. As a 3rd year teacher, my first two years have been affected by COVID, cut short and then hybrid last year. This is my first full year in the classroom with students, and I want to turn my classroom into the safest space I can for my kids.
