These snacks will allow my students to focus on something other than being hungry during the school day. Dietary requirements limit what my students can eat and most of my students are too shy and have limited English so they will not typically ask about food items in a fast-moving lunch line. Having snacks on hand will ease their anxiety and allow them more options to put something in their bellies. Students have access to snacks to add to school meals or in place of one. When they have eaten my students can focus on school work and not their hunger. This is a game-changer for those students, especially those who don't speak English and those who are too afraid to ask. Moving to a new country is difficult enough, so I would love to take any additional stress I can from them. I know it's the little things that make a huge difference for a student. A little snack will go a long way.
